Cynthia M. Hastings Obituary

Cynthia M. Hastings, 71, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton.  She was born August 18, 1950 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Thomas Richard and Gracie Marie (Slavens) Chambers.  She graduated from North Central High School in Farmersburg, Indiana.  She worked for many years at A P & S Clinic in Terre Haute, as well as being a caring mother and homemaker. Cynthia was certified in sign language and was a supporter of Cochlear Implant Research & Awareness. She was an avid traveler and shopping enthusiast, loved Italian cuisine, and enjoyed making her own Italian culinary creations.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Richard “Dick” and Gracie Marie Chambers; her husband, James D. Hastings, Sr., a son, James “Jimmy” Hastings; a brother, Tim Chambers; a sister-in-law, Toni Chambers. Her survivors are sons, Steve McDowell, Jeff Hastings and wife Paula, and Jay Hastings and wife Jessie; brother, Joe Chambers and wife Rosann, and niece Robyn, brother, Dick Chambers and nephews Dickie and Jim, sister-in-law Dorothy Chambers and nieces Lisa and Debbie; grandchildren, Justin (Hastings) Hendricks and husband Nick, Jessica (Hastings) Summerville and husband Codey, Jerret Hastings and wife Kaci, Sierra Hastings-Kelley and friend Gage Russell, Rodney Sullivan and friend Anna Martindill, Hunter Hastings, and Nolan Hastings; great-grandchildren, Easton, Emma, and Owen Summerville and June Hastings.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 15, 2022 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s University Parish in Terre Haute.  Mass will begin at 12:00 Noon.  Friar Cyprian Uline will officiate. DeBaun Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
