Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Sacred Heart Church in Manilla, with burial at a later date in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Manilla. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, August 19, 2022, at Sacred Heart Church in Manilla, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.

Norbert Frank Kasperbauer, son of Frank and Helen (Steffes) Kasparbauer, was born February 2, 1940, on a farm southwest of Templeton, Iowa. He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in 1958. While attending high school, Norbert worked on the farm and after graduating he worked for Greteman Produce running the egg route. In 1956, he enlisted with the Iowa National Guard in Audubon, later transferring to Denison. He received an Honorable Discharge in June of 1964.

On February 20, 1960, Norbert married Mary Ann Vogl at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton. The couple moved to a farm north of Manilla where they raised their three sons. Norbert enjoyed raising hogs, cattle, corn and soybeans. He farmed until 2000 when he rented his land out and moved to Manilla in the spring of 2002. In 1994, Norbert and Mary Ann began transporting motorhomes throughout the United States including Alaska, and Canada. He retired from that in 2009 when gas prices were high and people weren't buying them.

Norbert was active in the NFO as Grain Coordinator and served on the board as President of the Collection Point in Westside for many years. He also served on the Pork Producer Board and PCA Board for many years. He served as an Advocate of the Manilla Manor for several years.

Norbert was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manilla and active in the Holy Name Society and the CCD program from 1978 to 2005 as Coordinator and Teacher. He served as a Lay Minister for the Parish. He served on the Sioux City Diocese Vocation Team, Search Board, and as chairman of the Marriage Encounter Board. Norbert became Sexton for the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in 2004 and served as Sexton and Clerk for the Nishnabotna Cemetery from 2009 until 2017. He retired due to health problems. Norbert served as an Advocate of the Manilla Manor and Lay Minister for the Manor. Norbert and Mary Ann delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.

Norbert enjoyed spending time with his family, raising hogs, helping others, fishing and cooking. He and Mary Ann enjoyed their travels to Germany, Guatemala, and transporting motor homes through Alaska and every state in the United States and across all provinces of Canada.

Norbert was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Helen Kasparbauer; a grandson Joshua Kasperbauer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Marvin Knapton, Dennis Sperry, Leo Danner, Joe Vogl, LeRoy (Barb) Vogl, Pete Danner and Michael Eich.

Norbert is survived by his wife Mary Ann Kasperbauer of Manilla; three sons: Kevin (Teresa) Kasperbauer of Vail; Dr. Roger (Patty) Kasperbauer of Davenport; and Steve Kasperbauer and special friend Dr. Michele Eckermann of Denison; Grandchildren: Krystle (Aaron) Kautzky of Westside; Kari Jo (Brian) Guilford of Carroll; Tyler (Shanea) Kasperbauer of Westside; Traci Kasperbauer of Chicago, Illinois; Seth Kasperbauer of Coralville; Great-grandchildren: Shelby, Henry, Warren and Sylvie Kautzky; Lucy, Lydia and Lynlee Guilford; Maisyn Kasperbauer; Sisters and Brothers: Sister Jean Kasparbauer of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; Janice (Harold) Wilkins of Des Moines; Frances Norton of Liberty, Missouri; Lois Schechinger of Cerritos, California; Rita Knapton of Wall Lake; Leo (Joleen) Kasparbauer of Carroll; Dennis (Karen) Kasparbauer of Manning; brothers- and sisters-in-law: John (Adella) Vogl of Adair; Earl (Laurel) Vogl Carroll; Dorothy Danner of Carroll; Levan Eich of Carroll; and by a many nieces and nephews.
