<p>Janet Lee Ballowe 86 of Strasburg, VA passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022, at the Winchester Medical Center.&nbsp;</p> <p>A celebration of life service for Mrs. Ballowe will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Sonya Williams-Giersch officiating.&nbsp; The family will receive friends at the Church on Friday one hour prior to the service.&nbsp;</p> <p>Mrs. Ballowe was born in Strasburg, VA on December 13, 1935, a daughter of the late Delmer Walton and Velma Margaret Bowman Himelright.&nbsp; She was a 1954 graduate of Strasburg High School and retired from Sandy Hook Elementary School where she worked as a Library Aide.&nbsp; She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she started the Kindergarten program.&nbsp; She was a member of the Shenandoah Sam&rsquo;s Camping Club and the North Shenandoah Ruritan where she devoted a lot of time to the Ruritan Empty Stocking Project.&nbsp; In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother James Himelright.&nbsp;</p> <p>Survivors include her husband of 66 years James Ray Ballowe, Sr. of Strasburg, VA; her children James Ray Ballowe, Jr. (Peggy) of Fort Valley, VA, Terry Allan Ballowe (Peggy T.) of Edinburg, VA, and Lynda Leigh Ballowe (Bill Hart) of Norfolk, VA; her grandchildren Moriah Creech, Jadah Ballowe, and Sonya Broadway; her great-grandchildren Eli, Baylen, Lorelai, Skylar, Kodah, Samuel, Isaac, Joe, and Jasper; her sister-in-law Gloria Himelright along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.</p> <p>Memorials may be made to the Ruritan Empty Stocking Project, P.O.
