Wayne J. Travis Fairfield, Connecticut Obituary

Wayne J. Travis

Wayne J. Travis, age 68 of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY and formerly of Fairfield, CT passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 7, 2022. He was the devoted and proud father of Christopher, Daniel, and Kyle Travis. Wayne was born on November 23, 1953, to Charles H. and Mary F. Vanderwerker Travis in Peekskill, NY. He was a graduate of Pace University where he earned his BA in Accounting. He was a CPA practicing in CT and NY for many years. Wayne was an avid New York sports fan of the Yankees, Rangers, Knicks, and Giants. In his spare time, his favorite activity was playing street hockey with his boys and their friends and attending sports events together while cheering their teams on. He was an avid history buff, a Turner Classic Movie aficionado, a man of great faith and a devout Christian. Wayne was a true animal lover and never met a dog or cat he didn’t like. He was a true patriot and American who loved the history and legacy of this country who his father so bravely fought to defend during WWII. In recent years he was a doting “POP” who spent all the time he could with his grandsons Joseph, Jackson and his most recent blessing, Baby Theo. In addition to his sons and grandsons, he leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters-in-law, Melissa Travis of Fairfield, CT and Chiyo Travis of Bristol VT, longtime partner, Amy Allen of Hastings-on-Hudson and her children, Allie and Michael Long and their families, Terese Travis-Horvath, the mother of his sons, of Fairfield and his cousin, Phil Martin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Charles (Chuck) Travis. Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 5-7:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 7:30 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield. All other services will be private.
