Eileen Lois Goldman Obituary

Eileen Goldman, age 92, of East Meadow NY, passed away peacefully in Lenox Massachusetts on Saturday. She was pre - deceased by her beloved husband Jerry who passed in 2018 after a 67 year marriage. After Jerry’s passing, Eileen moved to the Berkshires to be near her daughter Cindy Helitzer and son in law Dr. Ed Helitzer.

She was a speech pathologist in the Massapequa N.Y. School District for over 30 years. Her love of teaching children speech led her to co-author "Spirited Steps to Good Speech" volumes 1 and 2. Her passion, since she was 17 years of age, was playing violin. She played with the Massapequa Symphony Orchestra, the senior pops orchestra and many chamber groups as well. Eileen loved classical music, tennis, golf, travel, cooking, writing poetry and short stories and was an avid book reader. She loved spending time with family and friends going to Jones beach and playing hours of scrabble games. Eileen also volunteered teaching English language to adult learners.

She is survived by 3 children: Randy, Jane and Cindy as well as 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was a caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will also be missed by her many friends and longtime orchestra “family”. Private burial will be in N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, if one wishes, donations can be made to Knesset Israel Synagogue, 16 Colt Road, Pittsfield, Mass. 01201 or to the Berkshire Music School 30 Wendell Avenue, Pittsfield, Mass. 01201 in Eileen’s memory. To add to the Book of Memories, please visit www.flynndagnolifuneralhomes.com
