Dennis Leonard Davill Obituary

We had the pleasure of having a funny, intelligent, and kind father live with us until his passing August 4th. Everyone who met him liked him, as he was interested in people and asked questions about you, so he was easy to open up too. He worked as a police officer both in Hull, England, where he was born, and in Winnipeg, where he and his wife Billie settled upon moving to Canada.

Dennis had a keen interest in motorbikes, and airplanes. Living in the costal city of Hull, he heard many planes flying overhead during WW2. Dennis learned to distinguish the sounds of the British vs German bomber planes, and his mom came to rely on him, asking him, “Is it one of ours Den?”, to which he could reply, “it’s OK mum, its one of ours, go back to sleep”.

Animals gravitated to Dennis, likely because they could sense he was a safe and gentle man, and he was known to sneak them food when he thought nobody was looking. Our cats and dog miss him too.

A private family graveside service will be held later this month.

We love you Dennis and thank you for sharing your life with us.
