William Mason Garnett,81, Basehor passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.

William (Bill) was born on December 26, 1940 to Willard L. and Katherine E. (Lee) Garnett at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. He attended Leavenworth public schools and was a 1958 graduate of Leavenworth High School. Bill met and married the love of his life, Sharon Lee Ettinger in 1962. They have two daughters, Mary K. and Bonnie Lee.

In 1959, Bill began his career in printing as a pressman at the Leavenworth Times. In 1964, he began work for American Printing as a Letterpress Operator, where he did job printing and printed newspapers for Leavenworth High, Immaculata High, and Saint Mary’s College. In 1972, he went to the Army Field Printing Plant at Ft. Leavenworth where he was a Lithographic Pressman and later worked in the Camera and Layout department creating printing plates for the presses. Bill retired as Supervisor of Press and Pre-press departments after 24 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mason and Anna Garnett, William H. (Bill) Lee, former police chief of Leavenworth and Elizabeth H. Lee. His parents, Willard Lee Garnett and Katherine E. (Billie) Siegert and Stepfather James R, Siegert of Basehor, KS. Infant brother, Willard L. Garnett Jr.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon Lee Garnett, daughters Mary K. (Jeff) Cummins and Bonnie Lee (David) Forbach. Sister, Vickie S. Barthel Two grandchildren Luke W. Forbach and Rachel K. Forbach. Nephews David and Danny Barthel.

A visitation will be Friday, August 12, 2022 at 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Belden Larkin funeral home. A funeral service will commence at 12:30 pm, with Pastor Howard Jones, officiating at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to express a special thank you to The Piper Assisted Living and Memory Care, Kindred Healthcare staff, and ICU doctors and nurses at Providence Medical Center.
