Stefania Rawlyk Obituary

Stefania Rawlyk, a WWII holocaust survivor, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2022 at the age of 97 in her home in Freehold, New Jersey. She was born in Odrzyn, Poland on September 9, 1924 to Nikita Buczyk and Anastasia Borodinczyk. She met William Rawlyk who was a Master Shoemaker (deceased) in 1945 and got married in Ludenscheid, Germany. After the war they had one son, Walter. In 1950, William's Aunt sponsored the family to come to America. The family left Bremen, Germany in December aboard a ship USAT General Ballow and arrived in New York City on December 21, 1950. In 1951 they had one daughter, Maria. The family moved in 1953 to Freehold, New Jersey, and in 1954 they had another daughter, Lilly. Stefania worked at home while the children attended school. After the children left home, Stefania worked at the Apple Orchard Cider plant and Rug Mill Carpet Company in Freehold. She enjoyed cooking, embroidery, knitting, and singing.

Stefania is survived by 12 Grand, 25 Great Grand, and 13 Great-Great children.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at the Abundant Life Chuch of God, 632 Colts Neck Rd. (Rt. 537) Freehold, on Thursday August 11, 2022 from 10:00am to 12:00pm with a graveside service to follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
