Claire L. "Bobby" Mazurak Somerville, New Jersey Obituary

Claire L. "Bobby" Mazurak

Claire “Bobby” Mazurak, 92, died peacefully on August 7, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family. Born and raised in Bound Brook to the late Theodore and Clair Swanson (nee Nash), she was a graduate of Bound Brook High School. She went on to work at a phone company in New York where she met and then married the love of her life, Peter Mazurak. It was important to Claire’s father Theodore that his daughter was educated, and she attended Rutgers University for her undergraduate degree. Mr. and Mrs. Mazurak settled in Bridgewater, where she was a devoted wife and mother who stayed at home to take care of their family. She went on to work as the Board Secretary for Peapack Gladstone Board of Education, before taking her skillset to Clinton Township Board of Education where she was the Board Administrator. While working, she pursued her graduate degree from Rutgers Graduate School, which is a true testament to her father’s pursuit of greatness for his daughter. In her retirement, she was an active member of the Basking Ridge Garden Club and local senior clubs where she enjoyed time spent with friends. Claire was a prolific volunteer who dedicated her time to the VNA Rummage Sale of Far Hills and many local charities. She was a collector of all things and surrounded herself with things she felt were beautiful. She was a talented painter who excelled in watercolor and enjoyed crocheting. Later in life, Claire enjoyed playing BINGO and spending time with her family and friends. Claire was the matriarch of a large extended family. She began hosting Thanksgiving when she was twenty and it grew over 65 years to become an honored tradition that created memories for generations of families and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Peter Mazurak, and her dear children, Richard P. Mazurak and Barbara Mazurak Meier, and her sister Patricia Nivison. Surviving are her loving grandchildren Kimberly Mazurak, Gavin Mazurak, and Megan Van Houten, her great grandchildren, William, Clara, Ava, Kirsten, and Reagan, and her daughters-in-law Cathy and Nancy, as well as many extended family and close friends who will cherish her colorful memory. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00PM at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at The Church of The Immaculate Conception, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge. <iframe class="ts_player" allowfullscreen="true" allowtransparency="true" allow="autoplay; fullscreen" frameborder="0" height="330" scrolling="no" src="https://www.tributeslides.com/videos/embedded_video/GFMQCGPLDCRWPXG6" width="512"></iframe>

Bobby is the most positive, supportive person I have known. She was a faithful friend to my mother and our family through good times and difficult ones. A life well lived!
