Boyd Warren "Cricket" Ramsey Obituary

Boyd Warren “Cricket” Ramsey, age 80, of Nebo passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson. He was born June 9, 1942, in McDowell County to the late Walter Ramsey and Macie Edwards Ramsey.


Warren was a Christian man who spent time in the word of God and taught his family what it meant to be a follower of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed reading, especially Louis L’Amour novels, watching westerns, and woodworking. Warren was a United States Army Veteran as well as a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 234 in Valdese. He was a hard worker and a hero to his children. Warren loved his family and adored his grandchildren.


In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife Iris Virginia Powell Ramsey of 32 years; brothers, Wayne, Gene, Donald, and Bill Ramsey; and two sisters, Arlene Kimick and Betty Peterson.


Those left behind to cherish Warren’s memory are his two sons, Rodney Jordan (Christi) of Lincolnton and Randy Jordan of Morganton; daughter, Rev. Debbie Barker (Robert) of Granite Falls; two brothers, James Ramsey (Faye) of Op Alabama, Phillip Ramsey of Valdese; two sisters, Sandra Causby (Jerry) of Nebo, Elda Tipton of Glenwood; three grandchildren, Candace Pritchard (Brad), Melanie “Lanie” Jordan, and Riley Jordan; one great grandson, Gavin Pritchard; and several nieces and nephews.


A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Westmoreland Funeral Home & Crematory in Marion with his daughter, Rev. Debbie Barker and his son, Rodney Jordan officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the funeral service in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Warren will be buried beside his wife Iris in Bridgewater Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jack and Shirley Robin Center Amerom at 526 Pine Mountain Rd., Hudson, NC, 28638
