Wilmia Arlene Holmes Lewiston, Maine Obituary

Wilmia "Willy" Holmes

Wilmia Arlene Holmes, 87, was born on December 31, 1934 and passed away peacefully on August 3, 2022. She was born in Sabattus, Maine to the late Albert and Lillian (Drinkwater) Heywood. When she was younger, she spent much of her work life being employed at various shoe shops and her home life chasing after 6 kids. She enjoyed gardening and took great pride in how many quarts of things got canned each harvest season. She loved to fish, especially when it involved camping out overnight at a good horn pout fishing spot. She also loved to knit and crochet with afghans always available if you needed one and new mittens ready for the kids each winter. She loved going to yard sales and auctions and coming home with a new collection of treasures. Wilmia was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, a sister, a daughter and two sons. She is survived by four children, 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren (at last count). At Wilmia’s request, there will not be a funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Wilmia’s name to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
