Margaret C. Van Brunt Obituary

Margaret "Peg" C. Van Brunt, 81, of Long Valley, NJ passed away peacefully on August 2, 2022 at Hackettstown Medical Center in Hackettstown, NJ with her family members by her side. Margaret was born on May 27, 1941 in New York, NY to the late John O'Brien Clarke and Gertrude (nee Graszynski) Clarke. She was raised in New York and lived in Jersey City, NJ for several years before moving to Long Valley 32 years ago. During the years spent living in New York City, Margaret was a senior administrator at Bellevue Hospital.

God blessed Margaret with the ability to create beautiful works of Art from an early age. She was a world class wood sculpturer, painter, and textile designer. Throughout her life she shared her gift with others across the world. One of her greatest legacies was starting the Wood Sculpture program at the Our Little Roses Foreign Mission Society in Honduras, where she taught young girls this fine art for them to gain skills which would lead to careers. Spirituality was a focus throughout her life so much so that she served as a Franciscan Sister for 12 years. A gentle and kind soul, Margaret treasured all of Gods creations and would do anything for anyone at any time. She was a lover of animals great and small. She believed in the conservation of the Environment and always did her part in making sure it was persevered.

Margaret is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Peter R. Van Brunt; six devoted siblings, Ann C. Berkery and her husband Joseph, John O'Brien Clarke, Jr. and his wife Sharon, Robert Regan Clarke and his wife Patricia, Gerald V. Clarke and his wife Kathy, Joseph J. Clarke, and James Clarke and his wife Mary Kay; and by many other loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Kris Clarke.
