Obituary

Graveside service for Susie Francis Parris, 68, of Georgia, formerly of Anniston, will be held at 3:00 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Dearmanville United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Reverend Benny Hamlin will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday, August 8, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs.

Ms. Parris passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022 in Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Margaret Francis.

Susie lived a lot of life in her 68 1/2 years. She grew up on a dairy farm in Choccolocco. She was saved and baptized at Dearmanville United Methodist Church almost exactly 58 years ago. She graduated from Oxford  High School in 1972 and earned a B.S. in Nursing from Jacksonville State University in 1976. Upon graduation, she was already employed at Regional Medical Center in Anniston. She retired from there after twenty-eight years of service. She moved to Georgia in 2003 and continued working at Inner Harbor and Murphy-Harpst Children's Center. She served others in her professional capacity for a total of forty-five years.

Susie loved her family, dozens of cats that were lucky enough to have her as their mama, friends, neighbors and coworkers who became family, Auburn Football and Braves Baseball. She spent her life giving as a caring psychiatric nurse and personally as a loving sister and friend. She was the glue that held our family together.

She loved to bake goodies for friends and neighbors as well as doing a lot of cooking for family get-together's. She maintained a beautiful yard and rose garden. She mentioned many times that she loved living in Georgia because she lives closer to Gloria and Carroll and could visit any of her siblings without spending a night. She quickly became a much-loved part of her community and felt that many of them were extended family.

We know that she was granted her wish to be at peace even though it leaves a huge hole in our hearts. She would want us to continue to enjoy life and to serve others as she did.

Ms. Parris is survived by her brother, Virgil Francis; and her sisters, Jane Deljudice and Gloria Swink (Carroll).
