Eleanor M. Jozwiak Obituary

Eleanor M. Jozwiak, age 98, passed away peacefully at her daughter Susan’s home in Midland on Saturday, August 6, 2022. The daughter of the late Louis and Verna (Kuczkowski) Michalak, she was born on August 18, 1923 in Bay City. Ellie worked for 14 years at the former Evenknit Hosiery Mills and then at the Bay City Times in the mail room for 20 years before retirement. A devoted Catholic with a true love of the Lord, she was a longtime member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church where she was active with the Rosary Society, Felician Sisters Auxiliary, St. Stan’s Senior Citizens, and the League of Catholic Women and Men. Ellie was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed gardening and walking with her friends on the Railtrail in the summer or the mall in the winter. Most of all she truly loved her large family and cherished the time she spent with them. On January 23, 1955 at St. Stan’s Church, Ellie was united in marriage to Harold J. Jozwiak and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1993. She is survived by her six children, Dan Jozwiak of Londonderry, NH, Carolyn “Pixie” (Ray) Johnson of Bay City, Susan (Dennis) McWethy of Midland, Donna (Ken) Hayward of Bay City, Gary (Karen) Jozwiak of Kawkawlin, and Julie Och of Virginia; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerome (Bernie) Michalak; two sisters-in-law, Rosemarie Rae Jozwiak and Joyce Michalak; and many nieces and nephews. Ellie was also preceded in death by her four sisters, Lucille Jozwiak, Frances Burzynski, Geraldine Stange, and Dorothy Korthals; and a brother, Louis Michalak. Ellie’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her caregivers, Lisa Magyar and Maddie Ulrey, for the wonderful care and comfort they have given recently. Also, to Ellie’s longtime physician, Dr. Janet Sutton, for her care, knowledge and support over the years. The Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Fr. Richard Filary presiding.
