Pauline E. Perry-Maubach Obituary

Pauline E. Perry-Maubach, 96, of New Berlin, formerly of Quincy IL, was welcomed into heaven at 10:36 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Prairie Village Healthcare Center in Jacksonville, IL. Pauline was born September 27, 1925, in El Dara, IL, the daughter of Grant and Orinda (Hinch) Tittsworth. She married Ernest Perry on February 21, 1949, in Garvin Hill, KY; he preceded her in death on August 8, 1980. Pauline later met and married Stanley Maubach on November 2, 1985, and he preceded her in death on May 3, 2010. Halfway through her senior year of high school, Pauline asked her mother’s permission to not finish classes, so she could get a job and help support the family. She followed through with this ambition. She later worked hard and achieved her GED. Pauline spent the majority of her life in the Quincy area. Early in her life, Pauline was employed in factories including the Pittsfield Shoe factory, Minear Studio, and Motorola. She and her husband Ernest owned and operated Oak Grove Cottages and the Courtel Motel in Quincy. Pauline began her work as a self-employed home healthcare provider around the age of 50 and continued to assist the elderly for nearly 40 years. Her gift of serving was a special ministry, as she meant so much to the families she assisted. Pauline was a charter member of Grandview Baptist Church in Quincy, later became a member of Central Baptist Church in Quincy, and then attended Berlin Christian Church after moving to the New Berlin area. Her faith and church attendance were always an important part of her life. Pauline was a former Girl Scout and 4-H leader and also taught Sunday school. Her home was a welcome gathering place for neighborhood children and anyone in need. She was a member of Blessing Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and enjoyed being involved in community and church activities. Pauline loved to dance, including square dance, round dance, and line dancing. She was an excellent seamstress and even taught herself upholstery. Pauline also enjoyed quilting, painting, creative crafts and made thousands of tote bags and rag dolls that she donated to missions for children in Mexico. Her last sewing project was making and donating masks during Covid. Pauline had a green thumb and could nurture any plant back to health. Her flowers were some of the most beautiful on the block! She also loved traveling and finding new adventures. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and creating gifts and adventures for them was one of her great joys. Pauline loved to laugh and enjoy life. Some of her favorite sayings were, “We are so blessed!”, “If you stumble, make it part of your dance!”, “Oh, happy day!”, “If you want to be part of the dance, you have to get out on the dance floor!”, and “Make your own sunshine!” She was always an encourager to others to be the best they could be and to never, ever give up. This was especially displayed in her own life through her determination and perseverance as she faced back pain and debilitating spinal stenosis. Most importantly, Pauline loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was open with others to make sure their hearts were right with God, who has now welcomed her into heaven with open arms. She is now dancing with the angels! “Oh Happy Day!” She was also preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Rome Averbeck; and six siblings, Eugene, Margaret, Albert, Vernon, Ronald, and Deloris. Pauline is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Steve) LeFevre of Poplar Grove, IL, and Donna (Ron) Averbeck-Dace of New Berlin; four grandchildren, Luke (Mandy) LeFevre, Lindsey (Christian) Grobe, Matthew (Shannon) Averbeck, and Nathan Averbeck; three step-grandchildren, Jesse, Josh, and Justin Dace; 12 great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Greyson, Isaac and Emery LeFevre, Taylor, Nolan, and Hudson Grobe, and Andrew, Emma, Chloe, Maxwell, and Deacon Averbeck; two sisters, Bonnie (Clifford) Huddleston of Beverly, IL and Juanita Helms of Springfield, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. The family will host a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Central Baptist Church, 321 N. 7th Street, Quincy, IL, 62301. The family is being served by Butler Funeral Home-New Berlin, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin, IL.
