Rosemary (Shoemaker) McCaw Obituary

Mrs. Rosemary (Shoemaker) McCaw

Mrs. Rosemary (Shoemaker) McCaw, age 81, a longtime resident of Oregon Road, Mohawk and most recently of Ilion, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, August 7th, 2022 at Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Little Falls.

Rosemary was born in Little Falls daughter of the late Edward Thomas and Ellen Anne (Fay) Shoemaker Gibbons and educated in local schools. She began working as a young girl at Dalfons Shoe Factory, little Falls. In her later years, she cleaned homes and also was a waitress at Lita's Diner, Herkimer. She loved this job and chatting with the lady's and customers at Lita's. Rosemary was united in marriage with John Lewis McCaw, who passed away in 2018 after 57 years of cherished togetherness and love. Rosemary was so sociable, worked very hard and as a result made many friends throughout her career and lifetime. She loved shopping at Kmart and Walmart and chatting with the customers there. The cashiers knew Rosemary and her husband as grandma and grandpa on their Friday visits. She loved decorating for the holidays and made sure each child had a bag full of candy and presents for every occasion, making sure grandpa did the proper wrapping of course. Rosemary struggled with rheumatoid arthritis being diagnosed in her early 40s, this was always an obstacle to get things done. Her loving husband John was always by her side to help.

Rosemary's son, Randy McCaw Sr. and his wife, Cindy took care of her after her husband's passing and even in the nursing home would bring her all the treats and visit with her. Rosemary and John attended New Life Church Herkimer.

Survivors include her adored loved ones who will carry on her legacy proudly; her cherished son and devoted caretaker, Randy McCaw Sr. and his children, Randy McCaw, Jr. and fiance Megan, Rachael McCaw Minosh and husband Mike, Lucas McCaw and girlfriend Starr and Marcus McCaw and her late daughter Lori Moynihan’s children, Cassandra Maxwell, Alexander Kuznia and girlfriend Becca, John McCaw and wife Becky and Scarlett Moynihan; great grandchildren, Dakota, Donald and fiance Kayleigh, Brayden, Ethan, Michael Joseph, Jacob, Lilly and Paul, Emily, Lucy, Penny Rose and Jack.
