Elaine Cornelia Weaver Obituary

Elaine Cornelia Weaver, 69, of Oceanside passed from this world to Paradise suddenly and unexpectedly on August 1, 2022, after a lengthy illness. Born in Long Beach on February 6, 1953, she is the daughter of the late Harold and Dina (Pacheco) Gutierrez. Elaine is a graduate of Western High School in Anaheim and earned her master’s degree in Slavic Languages from UCLA (Gutierrez). A prodigy, Elaine was multi-talented and multilingual, working as an educator for 4 decades: Santa Ana High (Besedin) and San Gorgonio High (Reynolds) in Southern California; and she continued to inspire students at Northern California’s Westmont High as well as Francis C. Hammond, The Saudi Academy, and Northern Virginia Community College in the Washington, D.C. area (Weaver). Elaine converted from Roman Catholicism to Russian Orthodoxy and met her husband of 23 years, Jerry Weaver (Father Jeremiah). She then earned the title of Matushka Helen and together, the Weavers were active participants at St. Andrews in Glendora. Between the two of them, they brought up 5 children including Victoria (Besedin) Carlborg (Major Bob Carlborg, USMC), Thaddeus Besedin, Timothy Reynolds PharmD (Dr. Cindy Chang), Elliot Weaver, and Austin Weaver as well as 1 grandchild, Adrianna. She is also survived by a large family including 4 siblings (Bernadette, Don, Myra, and Kathy) and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Elaine’s burial service will be at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego at 2 p.m. on August 23, 2022, and following the service, her family, friends, parishioners, colleagues, and students are invited to gather to celebrate her extraordinary life at a nearby restaurant.
