Michael F. Moriarty Obituary

Michael Francis Moriarty, 61, of Somers, beloved husband of Pamela (Clavette) Moriarty, entered into eternal peace Friday, August 5, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. The son of the late Joseph G. Moriarty III and the late Catherine (Burke) Moriarty, Mike was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and moved to Enfield at the age of nine.

In Mike’s younger years, he was an athlete who enjoyed many sports, especially baseball and golf. Mike was often revered as the best second baseman Enrico Fermi High School ever had. Mike graduated from Enrico Fermi in 1979, and attended a few college courses at Manchester Community College before pursuing other plans.

In 1984, Mike started working as a car salesman at Hoffman Ford. This proved to be a lifelong endeavor for Mike, as he moved through the ranks of the car business from sales manager to general manager. Mike spent the past 23 years as the general manager of Family Ford (initially of Chicopee, MA, and more recently of Enfield), where he built quite a reputation as a stern but compassionate leader. You may have heard Mike’s voice on the radio, as he was the main spokesperson for Family Ford, declaring “No one will give you more for your trade in then I will, period.” Throughout his life, he built many relationships with customers, and became a trusted source to obtain the best deal on a car.

Without a doubt, Mike’s greatest joy in life was being a husband to Pam and father to his two children, Caitlin and Matthew. Mike and Pam’s love story began at Enfield Ford in 1987 when she bought a car from him, and they were married for 31 years. Mike loved being a father and was able to share in his children’s interests. He went to countless Broadway shows with his daughter, and many basketball games with his son. Anyone who knew Mike knew that he raved about his children, regardless of how big or small their accomplishments.

Mike’s family and friends will remember him for his veracity, wit, and passion he brought to everything he did. He is survived by his wife Pamela, children Caitlin and Matthew, and Caitlin’s fiancé Ryan. He is also survived by his siblings, Joseph G. Moriarty IV and his wife Suzanne of Windsor, Catherine Goss and her husband Randy of The Villages, FL, Timothy Moriarty of Windsor, and Jennifer Moriarty-Kormylo and her husband Kevin of Enfield. Last but not least, he is survived by his nieces Erica, Erin, Alyssa and Dylan and nephews Robert and Jackson. Mike was predeceased by his parents Joseph Moriarty III and Catherine Moriarty, a brother Matthew, and a nephew Michael.

Visitation hours will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, August 11 at Leete-Stevens Funeral Home in Enfield, CT, followed by a funeral service at 7pm at the funeral home. To leave online condolences, please visit www.leetestevens.com
