Obituary

Barbara Joan (Ward/Lagomarsino) Major departed this life on August 1, 2022.  Known as “Bobbie” to her family and friends, she had five brothers whom she dearly loved:  Raymond “Ray”, David “Dave” (deceased), Dennis “Denny” (deceased) (Wyona), Michael “Mike” (Cindy), and Anthony “Tony” (Erin).  She also had an older sister, Jewel Francis, who died as an infant and whom she is meeting now in Heaven.  She also truly loved her sons Ronald “Ron” (Connie), Charles “Charlie”, three Granddaughters, Leah (Nathan), Hannah (John), and Rebekah (Jacob), Evan, Emily; plus five great-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind two stepchildren Peter Major, Holly Major and their families.  She and her dedicated husband Bill Major were married for 32 years, living in Sun City, Hilton Head, South Carolina since 2004.

A lover of animals, Barbara owned a horse for several years.  She had a tender heart for any animal in distress and volunteered at local animal shelters.  Her home away included several dogs and cats over the years.  Proceeding her in death was her beloved dog FSBO, whom I am sure she is happy to see again.

Professionally, Barbara worked for several years as a Server.  A highlight was one summer when she worked together with her son, Ron.  But her real calling and expertise was as a Realtor.  She and her husband Bill formed the “Major Team.”  Together they were very successful in the Dana Point/San Juan Capistrano market in Southern California.  She had an eye for home presentation and marketability.

In 1977 Barbara had a life-changing encounter with Almighty God.  She was hospitalized for several days with the life-threatening condition of Phlebitis.  In desperation, she asked God to heal her.  She woke up the next day healed.  She was baptized in 1982 and remained a believing Christian for the rest of her life.  She was also instrumental in bringing Bill to the Lord.  As she grew more frail with declining health towards the end of her days, she often said, “I want to be with Jesus.”  Now her wish has come true.

Denny and Bobbie passed away within ten days of each other, and a joint memorial is being held in Riverside, CA on August 27, 2022.  They were close their whole lives, and Bobbie loved her little brother “D-Gay”, so it is appropriate that they are remembered together.  May they both Rest in Peace.
