Phillips (Phil) Gifford Avery, 94, of Mashpee passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2022. He was the beloved son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Avery. Phil graduated from Rutgers University in New Jersey. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Phil was a marketing manager for many years at Airwick. He retired from corporate management positions at age 49 to purchase a property management company at Tristams Landing on Nantucket, which he ran with his ex-wife Pat for several years. He moved to Mashpee in 2000 and loved living at Stafford Ponds. He was a parishioner at Waquoit Congregational Church and volunteered at Elder Services of the Cape and Islands. Phil took good care of himself by eating healthy foods. He enjoyed riding his bike and walking. He was a loving father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who loved him. Phil is survived by two daughters, Sarah Avery of Montclair, NJ, Janis Avery and spouse Mary of Seattle, WA, seven grandchildren, Felicia, Emerson, Matthew, Amber, Darrel, Adam, Kasie, and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth Haughn and his sister Frances Speers. A visitation will be held at Chapman Funerals and Cremations 74 Algonquin Ave. (Rte 151) Mashpee, on Monday August 8, 2022 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. A funeral service will be held in Chapman Funerals and Cremations on Tuesday August 9, 2022 at 11:30am. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Attendees are invited to come back to 29 Windsor Point for repast after the burial.
