Dan Bruning Obituary

Daniel Edwin Bruning, age 76, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Daniel was born March 30, 1946, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Bernard and Cecilia (Hamata) Bruning. He graduated from Stanton High School in 1964 and attended business school in Omaha, Nebraska. Daniel was united in marriage to Diane Bergren on December 10, 1966, in Red Oak, Iowa. They lived all of their lives in the Red Oak, Iowa, area where Dan farmed for many years. He was a longtime member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Preceding him in death were his father and his wife, Diane, on September 5, 2020. Survivors include his children: Michael Bruning of Red Oak, IA and Michelle Gilbert of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Zach and Lexie Gilbert; mother: Cecilia Bruning of Red Oak, IA; sisters: Patricia Larson Menendez of Lee’s Summit, MO and Catherine Jones and husband Richard of St. Cloud, FL; brothers: Gary Bruning and wife Linda of Villisca, IA; Steven Bruning and wife Sheryl of Stanton, IA; Kenneth Bruning and wife Carleen of Stanton, IA; and David Bruning and wife Elitha of Red Oak, IA; sisters-in-law: Connie McCunn and husband Mike of Red Oak, IA and Barbara Magnussen and husband Roger of Red Oak, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Monday, August 8, 2022, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
