Kurk Jonaway, 66, of Sterling, died on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 unexpectedly at his home.
He was born on June 29, 1956 in Sterling the son of William F. and Marge (Ingram) Jonaway. He married Debra Roush on February 2, 1988 in Morrison. Kurk was a proud and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a patriot for his country and stood firm in his patriotic beliefs while loving all who he came in contact with. Kurk was a family man of many trades, he could fix anything put in front of him, and was known as MacGyver. His family relied on him for many things and he always stood true to being reliable to call on. He was avid firearm holder. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and participating in local dart leagues. Most of all Kurk loved his family and friends. He is and will always be remembered as the patriarch of the family. He will be deeply and dearly missed by all who loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Jonaway of Sterling; one daughter, Kortney (KC) Jonaway-Davis of Sterling; one son, Kody Jonaway of Sterling; two granddaughters, Brynnlee Cooksey and Charlotte Davis of Sterling; sister-in-law, Judy Stage of Rock Falls; brother-in-law, Bobby (Dawn) Roush of Rock Falls; four nephews, Kole (Jessie) Jonaway of Queen Creek, AZ, Kraig Cook of Houston, TX, Dakota Roush of Rock Falls, Troy (Dawn) Smith of Nashville; several nieces and nephews and “adopted” daughters; his fat cat “Ollie” Oliver Tuxedo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kip Jonaway; one nephew, Brandon Smith.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Nicks Tap of Rock Falls on November 5, 2022 from 1PM-5PM for family and friends. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorials have been established.
