Robert D. Fisher Bridgewater, Massachusetts Obituary

Robert D. Fisher

Robert D. Fisher, age 91, of East Bridgewater and formerly of Randolph died peacefully while surrounded by his family on August 4th . Bob, as he was known by his family and friends was the son of the late Robert and Anna (Chapman) Fisher and grew up in the Fields Corner neighborhood of Dorchester. He was a graduate of Boston Latin and served in the US National Guard. After a Veterans Day Parade in the early 1950’s Bob met his lifelong sweetheart Margaret Marino and the two would marry on Easter Sunday, April 13, 1951 at St. Peters Church in Dorchester. They settled in Randolph where they raised their children and Bob worked for many years as a supervisor for Boston Insulated Wire and Cable located in Savin Hill in Dorchester. Bob and Marge were married over 71 years and affectionately called each other “Buster #1” and “Buster #2”, she was the love of his life, and he was always proud to have her by his side. Bob and his family enjoyed camping in Gilford, New Hampshire, following his beloved Red Sox, reminiscing about his 36 Chevy, “back yard wrenching” with his boys, and visiting the Eire Pub. Some of his favorite memories as a father were the family trips to Disney or smoking a pipe in the backyard listening to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass and playing with his grandkids. Bob was the loving husband of 71 years to Margaret (Marino) Fisher and devoted father of Kathy A. Lane and her husband John F. Coole of Bridgewater, Robert D. Fisher Jr. of Halifax, Paul D. Fisher of East Bridgewater, and William D. Fisher and his wife Kimberly of Taunton. Proud “Grampy/Banka” of Kim, Kerry, Amy, Lindsey, Joseph, Michael, Bobby, Danielle, Jacki, Brittany, Nicholas, Christopher, Courtney, and great grandfather of many. Brother of the late John Fisher and also survived by other relatives and dear friends. All are cordially invited to the Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 98 Bedford St. Bridgewater on Wed. Aug. 10th for a visitation period from 9:30am to 11:30am. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John’s Church, 210 Central St. East Bridgewater and burial will be held privately.
