CARENCRO ~ Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022 at a 11:00 a.m. Liturgy of the Word in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Korey James Brown, age 37, who passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be held at a later date. The Rev. Edward Duhon, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace, will officiate at the services. Readers will be Lakeisha Austin and Douglas Arceneaux. Korey was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. He attended Carencro Middle School and Carencro High School, where he played football, basketball, ran track, and competed in the junior olympics. Survivors include one daughter, Aaliyah Freeman of Opelousas; his mother Anita Marie Ledet Brown of Carencro; one sister, Whitney Elaine Brown and her spouse, Johnathan Reed of Lafayette; one brother, Joshua O'Neil Scott and his wife, Rilette; Paternal grandparents, Widney Brown and Annie Lee Gabriel Brown of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his father, Whitney Brown; one sister, Alexias Danine Brown; maternal grandparents, Lottery Winters, and the former Felicia Trahan. A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home led by Gladys Gary. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 am Saturday and will continue until service time on Saturday. Pallbearers will be Douglas Arceneaux, Jonathon Duhon, Jonnie Alfred, Lyle Woods, Johnathan Reed, and Joshua Scott. Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N.
