Martha Helen Swanson, 79, of East Windsor, NJ passed away at home after a nearly four year long courageous fight with colon cancer. She was surrounded by her husband, daughters and sisters. <br><br>She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Martha Radinis. <br><br>She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Robert, her daughters, Rita Geffert and son-in-law Scott, Amanda Goodman and son-in-law Matthew, and Belinda Brown and Allan Schwartz, her grandchildren Ryan and fiancé Rakel, Sawyer, Gavin and Tessa, and sisters Rita Mastella and Susann Franco.<br><br>Martha was born in Brooklyn, NY. She moved to South Amboy, NJ in 1966 where she had a long career with the Postal Service. It was there she met the love of her life, Robert. They married on June 6, 1981. They moved to Monroe in 1981 where Martha pursued her love of gardening. This led to her creation of The Country Herb Basket, a small business where she created handmade dried flower wreaths and bouquets which she sold at craft fairs. Martha was not one to stay still for long. After her retirement from the Postal Service in the Spring of 2000, she went on to work for Concordia Florist for several years. In March of 2003 the family moved to East Windsor, NJ and Martha found a new path as an educational assistant in the East Windsor School District working with young children. Finally, officially retiring in June of 2014, Martha continued to enjoy gardening, crafting, sewing, quilting, and participating in the senior center activities. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Martha was a warm and generous person with a feisty personality. She was able to make friends wherever she went. Martha, or Mahma, as her grandchildren call her, adored and doted on them. She was proud of each of their accomplishments and they inspired her to keep fighting for so long. Our whole family is blessed to have had such a loving and caring matriarch. We will miss her every day.<br><br>Calling hours will be held 4pm to 7pm Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30am Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at St Anthony of Padua RC Church, 251 Franklin Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520. <br><br>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to https://www.stjude.org/, https://nami.org/Home, https://www.heart.org/. <br><br>.
