Mildred Smith Harness

Mildred Smith Harness “Punkin”, age 78 of Nicholasville, formerly of Crab Orchard, passed away on August, 05, 2022, with her family by her side. Born in Stanford, Kentucky Feb. 24, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Vedena & Harmon Smith of Preachersville. Mildred is the widow of James F. Harness and the loving mother of Michael (Melinda) Harness, Kriste (Mike) Blumetti, and Kathy (Brent) Tussey all of Nicholasville; Two young men who she raised as her own Jacob (Dana) Edwards of Nicholasville and Josh Edwards, of Los Angeles, CA. Grandchildren Dustin Harness, Mandi Harness (Ben), Parker Tussey and Pierce Tussey and Alex Edwards. Great Grandchildren Myla Harness and Sawyer Landrum. Besides her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren she leaves behind a Brother, Richard Smith (Jennifer) of Florence and Sister, Regina (Roger) Baker of Huntsville AL. Nieces Jennie (Jordan) Baker Burnette, Jessie Baker and son Harlan, Shannon Smith Dunn (Casey) children, Canaan, Sarai, Noah, Juda, Kim Smith Dunn (Brad) daughter Madison. Preceded in death by her Husband, James (Jim) Harness, Sister in law, Pat Smith, Uncles, Stanley and Jimmy Hopkins and several beloved Smith family Aunts and Uncles. Mildred was a Christian, active in her community, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a beautician and homemaker. She loved being a mother and grandmother and spending time with family and her girlfriends. Christmas was her favorite time of year and had a deep love of movies especially anything with John Wayne. The accomplishments and character of those in her family are directly related to her love and support. Visitation will be held at Jessamine Christian Church on August 09, 2022 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM Visitation will begin at 11:00AM prior to 1:00PM Funeral Services at McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard, KY. August 10, 2022. Burial services at Lancaster Cemetery will immediately follow the conclusion of the funeral services. Pallbearers Include: Roger Baker, Brent, Parker & Pierce Tussey, Jacob and Josh Edwards Honorary Pallbearers: Eddie, Doug & Gerald Thomas Smith, Kenneth Price & Kenneth Van Chattelle Memorial contributions suggested to St. Judes Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105

Mildred and I were best friends in high school. We had so much fun together. The principle Wash called us the Goldrush twins. I don’t know why, because we looked nothing alike. So sorry to hear of her passing. Prayers for the family.
