PORTSMOUTH - John E. Jenkins, a lifelong resident of Portsmouth, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Horace and Lucy Jenkins of Portsmouth. John retired as a conductor from CSX Railroad after 40 years of service. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 58 years, Katherine "Kappa"; two sons, David Jenkins (predeceased wife Dawn) and Rick Jenkins and his wife Michelle; a brother, William Jenkins; a sister, Lucille Mason; four grandsons, Ryan, Tyler, Lance and Conner; two great-grandsons, Ty and Taccoa; and a host of extended family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Point Harbor Church, 2705 Taylor Road, Chesapeake, VA 23321.
