Nathaniel Rainey Obituary

Mr. Nathaniel Rainey was born on November 13, 1966 in Hartsville, South Carolina to Mr. Levernis Rainney and Ms. Margaret Woods, and was subsequently mothered by Ms. Brenda Khan. On Saturday, August 6, 2022, Nathaniel left the troubles of this world behind, and transitioned at Carolina Pines Hospital in Hartsville, South Carolina. Nathaniel was educated in the public schools of Darlington County, and graduated with the Hartsville Senior High School Class of 1985. Following his high school education, he worked successfully in both the Food Service and Custodial industries. Within the span of his career, he was employed with Golden Corral, McDonald’s, Coker College, Sonoco, Applebee’s, and Bethea Nursing. Nathaniel’s line of work went hand in hand with one of the things he loved most, cooking! Some of his favorite dishes were spaghetti, chicken, and anything baked! Above all else, Nathaniel was a lover and believer in Jesus Christ. When he wasn’t spending time with his family, you could most certainly find him at Antioch Baptist Church. He was very involved down through the years, and especially enjoyed hearing the Word and all of the old songs of Zion. Nathaniel was willing to serve the Lord and his church in any capacity that he was needed. Taking rides and planting flowers were also some of his favorite pastimes. Nathaniel was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Levernis Rainney and Ms. Margaret Woods. Now left behind to cherish loving memories are: his surrogate mother, Ms. Brenda Khan; his siblings: Mr. Willie Saunders, Ms. Carroll Rainey, Ms. Lisa Rainey, Ms. Marilyn McPhail, and Mr. Michael Woods. Also left behind are: A special cousin and friend, Ms. Judy K. Jett Hudson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other close relatives, and friends, all of whom will need your prayers in the coming days, weeks, months, and even years as they learn to cope with such a terrible loss.
