Malcom Baird

Malcom Baird, 87, of Lafayette, passed away at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Lafayette 2:25 PM Wednesday August 3, 2022. Malcom was born in Antrum, Northern Ireland September 17, 1934, the son of the late Robert and Mildred Eileen Whiteley Baird. He married Nancy Smith at New Castle, IN April 26, 1960 and she preceded him in death June 1, 2005. Malcom served in the US Army from March 6, 1957 until March 5, 1959. He was employed as a brick mason at Purdue University for 22 years before his retirement. Malcom was a member of Beta Phi Sigma Fraternity, Masonic Lodge 123 and the Bricklayers Union. Surviving is a daughter, Martha “Jody” Walkup (Dave) of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by five sisters. There will be no services held at this time. Malcom’s wishes were to be cremated with a private family interment at a later time to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to Beta Phi Sigma Fraternity Nurses Scholarship Fund. Hahn-Groeber Funeral & Cremation Services of Lafayette is honored to care for the Baird family.
