Phyllis Ethel Wellwood

Wellwood (Dares), Phyllis Ethel - age 76 of Belnan, passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2022 at home. Born in Middle Musquodoboit, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ethel Dares.<br><br>Phyllis’ early working career included working at MT&amp;T out of Musquodoboit and Truro. When she married Harold, she became a homemaker. Phyllis cared for a number of children around the community. She enjoyed her summers camping at Scotia Pine and Beech Brook Campgrounds. Phyllis’ hobbies included knitting, bowling and spending time with her family and friends.<br><br>Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Harold; children, Bill, Lantz; Debbie (Jason) Ross, Gays River; grandchildren, Alex (Kara) Wellwood, Bay Bulls, NL; Kennedy Wellwood, Wolfville; Emily Ross, Gays River; siblings, Ross (Jean), Middle Musquodoboit; Edna Benvie, Middle Musquodoboit; several nieces and nephews.<br><br>She was predeceased by her loving daughter-in-law, Carolyn Wellwood; brother, Gordon; brother-in-law, Doug Benvie; sister-in-law, Marion Dares.<br><br>Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 PM and 7 – 9 PM on Thursday, August 11th, 2022, in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812, Highway 2, Shubenacadie. A funeral service will be held at Riverview United Church, Elmsdale, at 10 AM on Friday, August 12th, 2022 with reception to follow. Rev. Kim Curlett officiating.<br><br>Thank you to Cathy Gilby, VON, Dr. Iain MacNeil and the late Dr. Bruce Montgomery for continuous help with healthcare.<br><br>A special thanks to Harold, loving husband, father and grandfather for being able to keep our Mom and Nan in her home and close to her family.<br><br>In lieu of flowers, Phyllis’s family ask that you donate to the ALS Society of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Easter Seals or Riverview United Church.<br><br>Tributes, words of comfort and memories of Phyllis can be left for the family at www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
