Betty was an only child born in Toronto, Canada to Scottish Immigrant parents. She met her future husband attending a girlfriend’s wedding and they were married shortly after his return from the war. Through the Air Force, they were able to travel extensively both domestic and internationally, eagerly waiting their next assignment. After her husband retired, the family moved to Virginia. There, Betty would work for years at George Mason University, always relishing being around young people and the chance to interact with them. Betty is preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Jane, in 1976, and her husband in 1984. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Parks; her son, Paul Harris; her grandson, Josh; great-grandson, Connor; and her great granddaughter, Sienna Jane.
