Paul Backman, 80, a resident of Sayville, LI since 1968, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022, surrounded by his family.  Mr. Backman was born in Queens and raised in Valley Stream and graduated from Sewanhaka High School.  He worked his entire career with New York Telephone, starting as a lineman and retiring as a line foreman. 

Mr. Backman is survived by his wife, Carol Ann, his three children, Debora Ann Tomko and her husband Robert of Sayville, Paul and his wife Kimberly of California and Nancy Daugherty of Mastic, as well as his three grandchildren, Matthew, Amy and Katie.

Family and friends will gather 2-4:30 & 7-9:30 p.m. on Monday, August 8th at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville where a prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9th.  Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Sayville.
