Gregory Lamont Wiseman departed this life on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. He was the eldest of three children born to James Barnett and Dorothy Johnson-Barnett.<br> <br>Gregory attended D.C. public schools from elementary through high school. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army serving his country.<br><br>Gregory, affectionally known as “Greg” to family and friends, was a man of many hats. He was an avid Redskins fan through and through. He loved music and would play the percussions in several bands throughout the D.C. metropolitan area. A couple of the bands Greg played for were the “Soul Formula Band” for many years, and the “X-Factor Band”, where he not only played the percussions but would occasionally sing while in this band from 2017 until his death. He really was a lover of all things music.<br><br>Gregory would be the first to testify to anyone who would listen that God brought him though many of life’s ups and downs. He attended Calvary Episcopal Church in Washington DC until his passing. He worked at the Washington Post for a few years before his disability. In the late 80’s early 90’s, Greg was employed at St. Elizabeth Hospital.<br><br>Due to his disability Greg would work part-time. He didn’t allow that to stop him. He was employed part-time at the Montgomery County Shelter as a monitor for the past 15 years. Greg was also employed as a counselor and a mentor in Rehab programs assisting clients who were detoxing and rehabilitating from substance abuse. <br><br>Gregory was an active member in the “Narcotics Anonymous Fellowship” where he diligently encouraged members to ”stay clean” and was heavily involved in outreach and activism for the program. This was a huge part of his life and passion. <br><br>Look at where God as brought Gregory from, and what God was doing in his life. His recovery date is July 10th which is his actually birthday. Gregory celebrated 30 years of sobriety this past July.<br><br>He was preceded in death by his father James Barnett and leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother Dorothy Johnson-Barnett, brother James “Sandy” Barnett, sister Catricia Davis, daughters Doreen Weaver, Messina Wiseman (Shawn), Cherice Humes (Anthony), sons,Gregory Wiseman Sr., Silas Weaver, Quentin Macon, grandchildren, Shaquandra Weaver, Lauren Smith, Ayla Humes, Aylani Humes, great-grandchildren Jurnee, Ziare Durham, nephew Caleb Davis (Keya), great-nephew Noah, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
