Nancy R. Mann-Angelopoulos

Nancy Ruth Mann Angelopoulos, 66 of Arlington Heights, IL passed away on July 31, 2022 at her home and place she loved most - Crystal Lake, WI. Nancy was born May 25th, 1956 in Evanston, IL to Ruth (May Kelly) and David Milo Mann. She graduated from Prospect High School in 1974 as a proud member of The Rhythmettes. Nancy attended St. Norbert’s College from 1974-1976, and ultimately received her degree in nursing from Emory University in 1978. In 2009, she was awarded a double Masters; Master of Science in Nursing and Master of Public Health from University of Illinois at Chicago. Nancy was the embodiment of the Giving Tree in both her career as a nurse, and her personal life. Nancy Angelopoulos MSN, MPH, RN retired as a Program Coordinator of Health Screening Disease Management after more than 25 years of service with Cook County Department of Public Health. Driven to make a positive impact, she selflessly cared for others with integrity, compassion and grace. She retired in 2020 to focus her love and attention to her family, her travels, and her summers lakeside at Crystal Lake, WI. After attending Emory University, Nancy worked as a clerk at the Board of Trade in Chicago with both of her brothers and brother-in-law. While working there, she met the love of her life, Peter J Angelopoulos. Her charming first words “my name is not sweetheart” were all it took to make him hers. She prayed daily to the Mother Mary and had various Madonnas throughout her home. She personified that sincere, maternal love with everyone she knew. She loved her family emphatically; from her 4AM intimate conversations with her husband, to her morning coffees at the lake with her mother, to her afternoon rides through the country with her father, topped off with a laughter-filled evening around the dinner table with her husband, children, and grandbabies. She was lovingly called The Nance and “a pearl of a girl” by her family. To her husband’s chagrin, she was number one on all of her children’s speed dials, a spot he coveted for years. Nancy is survived by her loving spouse of 40 years, Peter Angelopoulos, her four children Angelo Angelopoulos (Meghan), Kelly Angelopoulos, Marina Angelopoulos, and Carmela Giovenco (Nico). She had two grandchildren, whom she adored; Kim and Peter (Angelo and Meghan). She also leaves behind her father David Milo Mann, her sister Barbara Barcal (Bill), her brother David Milo Mann II (Megan), her brother Robert Mann (Maggie), her sister-in-laws Carmen and Rita Angelopoulos, along with her nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Belle. She is predeceased by her sister-in-law Margaret Caliendo, her brother-in-law Richard Caliendo, and her mother, Ruth May Kelly Mann who entered the eternal kingdom in 2014. Her services will be held at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Rd. Arlington Heights, IL 60004 on Friday, August 12, 2022. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:30AM with a Mass to follow. If sending flower arrangements, the family kindly requests roses so rosaries can be made. Nancy will be laid to rest alongside her mother at Greenbush Cemetery, with immediate family in attendance. Wisconsin family and friends are invited to attend a 2:00PM luncheon on August 13th at the home of David Mann I.
