Nancy E (Shuppert) Weaver

Nancy E. Weaver passed away Friday, August 5, 2022 in South Bend. Nancy was born September 6, 1938 in North Liberty to the late Vernon Rudolph and Mary Anna (Horvath) Shuppert. On July 8, 1976, Nancy married the love of her life, William Wren Weaver, who precedes her in death. Along with her loving husband, Bill, Nancy is preceded in death by her sisters and their spouses, Lillian Marie and Andy Riffel, and Johanna and Allen Cox; and her mother-in-law, Mabel Crofoot. Left to cherish the memory of Nancy are her son, Jason W. Weaver; her step-children, Janice M. (Bruce W.) Reaves, Gary A. Weaver, and Jill Marie Weaver; her step-grandsons, Jeremy W. (Allison) Reaves and Brady A. (Taylor) Weaver; step-great-grandchildren, Brayden R. Reaves, Ryland W. Reaves, Delilah L. Weaver, and Forrest T. Weaver; and sisters, Linda Spagnola and Mary Shuppert. Nancy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nancy was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph County. She grew up on a farm at what is now Potato Creek State Park. Her family was the last landowner to leave the park. Nancy graduated from North Liberty High School in 1957 and worked as an accountant at Whiteford’s for many years before working for Target and ultimately retiring in 2000. Nancy loved to learn about her history, Hungarian ancestry, and her family tree. She also loved gardening and traveling. After retirement, Nancy and Bill were able to experience driving across country twice before Bill’s passing in 2005. Although she was proud of her accomplishments and her family’s ancestry, nothing made her happier than being a wife, mother, and stepmother. She was the most supportive and loving mom anyone could hope for. Even long after she lost the ability to speak, she found the strength to tell her family she loved them one last time. We love you too, mom. Visitation for Nancy will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow services at Porter-Rea Cemetery, North Liberty. Donations can be made in honor of Nancy E. Weaver to Meals on Wheels, REAL Services, Inc., Attn: Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1835, South Bend, IN 46634. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net
