Daryl Lee Harig, 81, of Roanoke, VA, formerly of Lincoln, NE was called home on Monday, July 11th, 2022 with his wife Ann by his side.<br><br>Daryl was a 1959 graduate of Lincoln Northeast High School and eleven days after graduation enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, attending basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, and became a Seagoing Marine aboard the USS Ranger. Daryl served until 1962. He received an honorable medical discharge and went to work for American Stores. In 2001, Daryl retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Lincoln, after 37 years of faithful service.<br><br>Daryl was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to Nebraska football or women's volleyball. Other hobbies included computer programming, serving his community as member of the neighborhood watch in Havelock, NE, and spending time with his family that he loved so dearly. He was also very involved in the upbringing of his grandson, Thorin Harig.<br><br>He is preceded in death by his parents; Leonard and Eva Harig, brother; Thomas Harig, and his two previous wives and the mothers of his children; Catherine Harig, and Jacquelyn Harig. Those left to cherish his memory include his adoring wife Ann, daughters; Deb Bray, Mary Lou (Trent) Bills, and Jackie (Tony) Petersen, a son; Richard Harig, five grandchildren, twelve step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a brother; Robert Harig, four step-children, Tierney Brown, Ariel Brown, Seana Brazee, and Jessica Pasley.<br><br>A memorial service will be held at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery on September 17th at 2:00pm at the grave site of his previous wife Jacquelyn Harig.
