Carolyn Dale Stansfield Obituary

Carolyn Dale Stansfield, age 82, of Glenville, PA, was admitted to Hanover Hospital on Wednesday for pneumonia and passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Born January 15, 1940 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Truman William Myers and Naomi Elizabeth Kreimer Myers and resided with her family for 24 years in Union Bridge on W. Broadway. She was the loving wife of Phillip Stansfield, her husband of 59 years. Also surviving are her daughters, Donna Stansfield Reck and husband Thomas and their daughter, Lauren Elizabeth; Deborah Cheryl Purpora and husband Salvatore and their children, Rosario Adam, Alexander Joshua, Aaron Jacob and Adriano Vincenzo; great-grandson, Carter Purpora; and several great nieces and great nephews. She will be missed by her beloved dog “Cricket”. Carolyn was predeceased by her sister, Eileen E. Metz in 1997 and her husband, Charles D. “Bud” Metz in 2006, and their son, her only nephew, C. Daniel Metz III, DDS in 2007. She was a 1958 graduate of Elmer Wolfe High School, Union Bridge and a 1960 graduate of Strayer School of Business. Carolyn was formerly employed as an underwriting assistant for MetLife Insurance Co., USF&G and Travelers Insurance. She was a member of Hope Baptist Church, Hanover; the Plymouth Chapter Order of Eastern Star of Union Bridge, where she served as Worthy Matron; and Job’s Daughters, becoming a Bethel Guardian. In her younger years she was a majorette for the Myers Band and loved roller skating as a teenager. She and her husband enjoyed bowling on leagues for more than 50 years. Carolyn’s family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge on Monday, August 8 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 9 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Allen Harris, her pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery, Union Bridge. A celebration of her life will be held at the VFW in Union Bridge following burial.
