James W. Balgie Obituary

Jim W. Balgie, age 70, passed away after a short battle against cancer. He was born on October 13, 1951, son of the late Paul and Rhea (Hammen) Balgie. He married Denise Hinkens on June 4, 1976, and they recently celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Jim worked at the Combined Locks Paper Mill for 37 years before his retirement. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and playing baseball in his younger years. More recently he made beautiful birdhouses that he gave to his loved ones.

Jim is survived by his wife, Denise; sons: Troy (special friend, Jamie) Balgie and Ben Balgie; granddaughters: Adrionna and Isabella; sister, Mary (Mike) Frank; brothers and sisters-in-law: Nancy Balgie, Ambers Howerton, Deb (Rick) Truyman, Donna (Al) Berndt, Steve (Jayne) Hinkens, John (Laura) Hinkens, Dawn (Lance) Walker, Diane (Kevin) Wyngaard, Darlene (Paul) Vander Loop, Lossie (Bill) Fielder and Dort (Frank) Vander Wyst; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Marie Balgie; siblings: Barbara Howerton and Carl Balgie; father and mother-in-law: Joseph and Margaret Hinkens and step-mother-in-law, Dorothy Hinkens.

Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home LITTLE CHUTE location, 101 Canal Street.
