<p>Leonard “Butch” Shevitz, 78, of New Castle passed away the morning of August 5, 2022 at his residence.</p><p><br></p><p>Born on January 16, 1944 in New Castle Butch was the son of the late Frank and Mary Gibala Shevitz.</p><p><br></p><p>Butch is survived by his beloved wife, the former Marijane Doutt who he married on November 25, 1967.</p><p><br></p><p>Butch had worked for Youngstown Sheet &amp; Tube for 20 years. He then worked at Cascade Auto Wrecking.</p><p><br></p><p>He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Joseph the Worker Church.</p><p><br></p><p>Butch enjoyed visiting casinos, going hunting and working on cars. He also enjoyed attending all his grandchildren’s sporting events. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Butch’s greatest joy in life was spending time with family and going to his daughter’s house for Sunday dinners.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his wife, Butch is survived by his children, Terri Thomas and Brian Shevitz, both of New Castle, his sister, Virginia Shevitz Snyder of New Castle, five grandchildren, Darwin Mychal Thomas, Ryan Thomas (Essence), Chrystian Thomas, Jessica Lucas (John), and Brian Shevitz and four great-grandsons.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by six brothers, Richard, Walter, Andrew, Anthony, Frank, and Joseph Shevitz.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be on Tuesday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.at the Ed &amp; Don DeCarbo Funeral Home &amp; Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.</p><p><br></p><p>A procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Benjamin Barr will officiate.</p><p><br></p><p>Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
