William Edward Porter Obituary

William Edward Porter Jr. passed away on August 1. 2022, at Mercy Hospital, Lorain.  He was 71-year-old.  William was born March 1, 1951, in Chapman, Al.  He graduated from Elyria High School class of 1970, and later attended Lorain Business College. William worked for Ford Motor Company, Lorain, and York International.

He married Helen Currie in 1973 which ended in divorce.  The couple had 4 children Erskine, William III, Nolita and Napoleon and has 9 grandchildren.  He served in the United States Armed Forces and received several good conduct medals.  He attended and played the bass guitar at The Call Out Church of the Almighty God. The only thing he loved more than playing chess was reading.  He will be greatly missed. 

He is survived in death by sisters Ollie Whitfield, Diane Allgood of Ga, Janice Hitchins (Sam) of Lorain, Terry Trimble, Vickie Albright (David) and brother Rev. Charles Porter (Tracy). 

He is preceded in death by his parents William E. Porter Sr. and Jessie L Porter.

 Funeral services will be held August 9 at 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am at The Call Out Church of the Almighty God, located at 7809 West River Rd. S , Elyria.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Rd. North Olmsted, Oh 44070.
