Pastor Terry L Turner

Pastor Terry L. Turner, 68 of Virden passed away suddenly and went to be with Jesus Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at his home. He was born November 16, 1953 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO son of Alfred “Bud” and Anna (Shaw) Turner. He married Debra Yandle on August 5, 1973 in Del City, Oklahoma and she survives his passing. Pastor Terry was Ordained as a Minister of the Assembly of God Church 45 years ago and then became a Minister of the Illinois Assembly of God Churches. He pastored churches in Illinois for nearly 40 years, having served at Carrollton Assembly of God for 10 ½ years and Shepherding the Prairie Temple Assembly of God in Virden for nearly 27 years. He loved the mountains, camping, motorcycles and was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan. Most of all, he cherished his family, including his church family. Pastor Terry is survived by his loving wife of nearly 49 years, Debra of Virden; son Terry L. (Ann) Turner II of New Berlin; daughter Shelly (Shaun) Williamson of Columbia, IL; 2 grandchildren Nathaniel and Natalie Williamson; sisters Elaine Davis of Carrollton and Tammy (Dathan) Cato of Charter Oak, Iowa; niece Annie Whitehead of Carrollton and sister-in-law Phyllis Yandle of Euless, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Patrick Davis. Funeral Services for Pastor Terry will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Prairie Temple Assembly of God in Virden with his dear friend Dr. J. David Arnett officiating. A graveside committal will follow at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Kane Cemetery, Kane, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 4-7 PM also at Prairie Temple Assembly of God in Virden. Memorials are suggested and may be made to Prairie Temple Assembly of God and will be received by Airsman & Calvert Funeral Homes, Virden who is honored to be caring for Pastor Terry’s family.
