Rasheena T. Slappy Paterson, New Jersey Obituary

Rasheena T. Slappy

Rasheena Tanesha Slappy was born on July 17, 1974 to Kenneth and Rhonda Slappy. She attended Passaic High School as a Freshman, and then transferred to Passaic County Technical High School in Wayne, NJ where she graduated in 1992. While in high school, Rasheena was an avid bowler. She was on the bowling team and participated in many tournaments. After high school Rasheena attended Lincoln University in Pennsylvania where she met her best friend Tracey Stokes. Rasheena then returned to Paterson to continue her education in Business at Passaic Community College. In 1996, Rasheena moved to Piscataway, NJ to live with her sister, Kimyada and work at Rutgers University. She worked at Rutgers in the Student Accounting Department for 9 years. In 2005 Rasheena started working for the Passaic Public School system. She started as an Administrative Secretary and then became an Administrative Assistant. Her last position after 17 years of service was at School #16. She enjoyed working with Dr. Love, Dr. Sawary, Liz and recently NaTasha. Rasheena was the devoted mother of 2 loving children. Kallee Raquel Slappy was born, August 5, 2001 and Kamren James Edward Smith, was born January 26, 2012. She constantly stayed busy with their extracurricular activities. Kallee attended dancing school for many years. There were many rehearsals, recitals, make up/hair dos and costume changes. Kamren stayed busy with basketball. She recently took two trips to Massachusetts for his basketball tournaments. She would drive him to practice twice a week with games on the weekend. Although she was tired most of the time, nothing would stop her from doing anything for her children. Her sister would literally call her a โ€œtruck driverโ€ because she was always in the car with her kids. In her final days the only thing she wanted to be sure of was that her babies were taken care of. Rasheena was a very active member of the Calvary Baptist Church family. She was a youth usher, a member of the choir and she was a Sunday School teacher. She helped with many activities in the church such as Easter and Christmas pageants, Holy-We-R, Christmas Spectacular, Multicultural events, etc. Rasheena was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, James and Callie White, her paternal grandparents, John Slappy and Edith Thomas, her brother in-law, Richard Oโ€™Neal along with several aunts and uncles. Rasheena leaves to cherish precious memories, her loving children, Kallee Slappy and Kamren Smith, of Maplewood, NJ; her bonus son Elijah Smith, of Maplewood, NJ; her parents, Kenneth and Rhonda Slappy of Paterson, NJ; her sister, Kimyada Oโ€™Neal of Union, NJ; her brother, Jamal Slappy (Starenda Whitfield) of Paterson, NJ; her nieces, Lauren Freeman, Sanai Frazier and Jade Slappy all of Paterson, NJ; her nephew, Kenyon Oโ€™Neal of Maplewood, NJ; her best friend/cousin, Teisha McKinney of Woodridge, NJ; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and her Calvary Baptist Church family.
