Maureen Nelson Obituary

Maureen Murray Nelson, 78, of Georgetown, formerly of Medford, Ipswich and Winchester, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2022, surrounded by her family. Maureen was the beloved wife of Harry for 56 years. She was the loving mother of Tara Nelson with her husband Paul Knittle of Oola, Ireland, and Erin Bisesti with her husband Steven of Boxford, Massachusetts. Her greatest joy in life was being grandmother to Hannah McGregor, with her husband Corey, Ryan and Isabella Bisesti. The laugh heard round the world (or at least our world), crazy shopping adventures, “grandbabies only” sleepovers, summers at the beach, trips to Disney, and ice cream parties before supper are only a token of the memories and family traditions, she has left those who loved her most. Maureen was also a loving daughter, sister, cousin, niece, aunt to many.

Maureen was a vibrant and caring people person, and her love of helping people solve their problems took her through many careers throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut. After graduating from Chandler School for Women, she worked at Atlantic and Gulf Stevedores in Boston, the Telephone Company where she met her best friend Charlene, States Attorney’s Office in New London, CT, Somerville District Court, owned two Dairy Queens, managed and sold real estate, and ended her working career in the Real Estate Division at Community Newspapers Company. Maureen will be deeply missed by the countless number of friends she collected in her life’s journey. They were very dear to her.

In honor of Maureen’s love of color, the family invites you to wear your boldest and brightest attire to the services. Due to multiple allergies, the family is requesting no flowers. Maureen would be honored by donations to Care Dimensions-Kaplan House or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Tuesday morning, August 9th at 11 o'clock in St. Mary's Parish, Andover Street, Georgetown. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8pm in the Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown.
