Elmer Norman Steward

Elmer Steward passed away in Sundre, AB on August 4, 2022 at the age of 75. Elmer was born in Peace<br>River, AB on June 17, 1947 to Shirley and John (Jack) Steward, and moved to the family farm outside<br>Drumheller, AB at the age of six.<br><br>Elmer married Illona Williams in 1972 and together they raised two children, Maralee and Angela, during<br>50 years of loving marriage. He worked as a lineman, serviceman and warehouseman with Alberta<br>Power / Atco Electric for 30 years until he retired in 2004. His career brought his family to Drumheller,<br>Vegreville, St. Paul, Jasper and Grande Prairie.<br><br>Elmer loved camping and cooking over the open fire, even in the rain. He enjoyed traveling and with<br>Illona visited Portugal, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Italy, Australia, and various US<br>states including multiple camping trips to Alaska and wintering in Palm Springs. When not on the road,<br>he could be found puttering in his garage and growing tomatoes in his garden.<br><br>Elmer is survived by his wife Illona, daughters Maralee Steward (Michael Keohane) and Angela Steward<br>(Cameron Wakefield), and many family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Shirley, father<br>Jack, brother Leslie, and various extended family members who are dearly missed.<br><br>At Elmer’s request, no memorial service will be held. Memorial donations may be made in Elmer’s name<br>to Sundre Hospital Futures (https://www.sundrehospitalfutures.com/).<br><br> Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., Olds entrusted with arrangements. I will remember Elmer as a gentle man always willing to share or guide. We shared a few interesting trouble calls that I am certain were as embedded in his memory as in mine. A friend, a mentor.

Yes the happy memories will never be stolen from us and they're are many! Elmer was a tough fighter in his battle & remained positive throughout. People could take a page from his book. Thx Ken & Helen
