Billie Jo Whittle

Billie Jo Whittle, 95, went home to be with her Lord and family that preceded her on Friday, August 5, 2022, in Longview, Texas. Mrs. Whittle was born May 27, 1927, in Pampa, Texas, to Claude and Johnnie Sheppard. She devoted her life to her family and service to others. She worked at Honey Togs in Gladewater for many years while tending her own home. Mrs. Whittle volunteered at Truman Smith Children's Center and at Hope's Closet, served in the Boy Scouts Auxiliary, was a VFW volunteer and was a Gladewater Citizen of the Year. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard Whittle; brothers, James Sheppard, Troy Sheppard, Floyd Sheppard; sisters, Evelyn Evans, Claudia Twibell and Juanita Joice Sheppard. Survivors include her son, Douglas Whittle and wife, Gretchen; daughter, Joyce Hill and husband, Denny; grandchildren, Mark Whittle, Matthew Whittle, Layne Hill, Chad Hill, Melanie Putman, Christy Gaskin and fifteen great grandchildren.

I loved this precious lady. Met her years ago when her husband was on our unit at Havencare. She was such a blessing to all of us and we were able to attend Mr. Whittle’s graveside. I’m sorry I just learned of her passing. Our love and sympathy to all of you…
