Sylvia Gorritz

Sylvia Gorritz, 72, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Lower Paxton Township on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.
Born February 20, 1950 in Manhattan, she was the daughter of Carmelina Del Valle Lozada and the late José Lozada and was also preceded in death by her brother: George Gorritz.
Sylvia was retired from the Department of Labor and Industry and had also been a dental assistant in Harrisburg. She and her family moved back and forth from New York to Puerto Rico, finally landing in Harrisburg in the early 70s.
Even after living in Harrisburg, she never lost her New York attitude. She was open and candid, and you always knew where you stood with her. Wherever she lived, she was funny and social and enjoyed partying with family, friends, and neighbors. She loved decorating for parties and holidays, especially Christmas. In her spare time, she was talented in crocheting baby items, doing crafts, watching spooky shows on television, and really liked shopping on QVC and HSN.
Surviving is her mother: Carmelina Lozada, Harrisburg; her children: Jimmy Cuevas (and Iris Vazquez), Harrisburg and Natasha Brown, Mechanicsburg; 2 sisters: Vilma Woodward, Florida and Elizabeth Rodriquez, Harrisburg; one brother: José Lozada, Florida; 5 grandchildren: Isabella Cuevas, Lorenzo Cuevas, Josiah Brown, Matteo Brown, and Novalee Brown; her little pup: Sabache; her “adopted” granddaughter: Heaven Poles; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends, all of whom will miss her greatly.
Services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market Street, Harrisburg. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, your prayers and condolences are appreciated.

February 20, 1950 - August 3, 202202/20/195008/03/2022
