Inez Marie Self

In the early hours of Friday, August 5th, 2022, Inez Marie Self gained her wings and entered heaven, surrounded by her family. She was born in Port Republic, VA on September 30, 1935. Inez devoted her life to serving Christ and spent her day setting an example for others. She was a faithful member of Grace Fellowship Church of Shenandoah. Her hobbies included fishing, dining-out, watching Gunsmoke, WII Bowling, and spending quality time with her family. Inez was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Mae Hammer Gilkerson, her husband George Orville Self, a brother, Jasper Azo Gilkerson, a sister, Peggy Ann Pifer, a daughter Diana Lam, and sons, Alvin Self and Norwood Self. Inez is survived by two daughters, Juanita Blose and companion, David Knight, and Teresa Lewis; grandchildren Ronald Marshall, Jr., Jonathan Terrell and wife Audrey Poe, Kenneth Terrell, Jeffrey Self and wife Hailey, Lisa Mottesheard, and Monica Lam; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Stephens, C.J. Stephens, Zoey Cubbage, and Cameron Cubbage. A special thanks to these individuals, Dr. Shawn Lepley, Hilary Kay, RN, David Knight, Robin Batton, Butch Nutter, her personal caregiver Teresa Lewis, and Boe-Boe, the family pet and guardian. Friends and family may visit Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes between 10 AM and 5 PM Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, to sign the guest book and pay their respects. A graveside service will be conducted 11 AM Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, at Port Republic Cemetery, with Pastor Wayne Comer officiating.
