It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Joseph Nelson Desveaux, on August 4, 2022, in the Maple Hill Manor. Joseph fought a long courageous, battle with dementia. Born August 27th, 1943, in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Nelson and Gertrude (Perfect) Desveaux, of New Waterford. The Ultimate Collector, Joseph enjoyed collecting many things and turning them into something special, his favorite being copper wire, he could not walk by a piece without picking it up! Going for long drives with his daughter Joann and grandchildren brought him great joy and he looked forward to discovering new places with them. Ice cream stops and polar pops in Sydney were among the favorites. Poppy had to stop at A&W to get his “Papa Burger” and he would never pass up a chance to swing by the chip wagon in Glace Bay. He had a fun sense of humor and was always so full of life, bringing smiles to many. His pride and joy were his family, his children, his grandchildren, and great granddaughter, Brooklyn were the true center of his life. Joseph is predeceased by his parents Nelson and Gertrude (Perfect) Desveaux. His wife, Bernice Desveaux and by his sisters, Sadie (Arthur) Campbell, Josephine (White), Mary (Walter) Ropek and his brother, Elias Desveaux. Joseph leaves to mourn his passing, daughters; Joann (Stephen) New Waterford, Peggy (Kenny) Donkin; son Jimmy (Tanya) New Waterford; sisters Mary (Lloyd) Delaney, Ontario, Martha (Ray) Penney, New Waterford, Kay (Steward) Hill, Point Edward. He will be missed greatly by his granddaughters Stephanie and Jessica and his great granddaughter, Brooklyn. As well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. Cremation has taken place, arrangements are under the care and direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, New Waterford 902-862-7500. A private family service will be held.
