Barbara L. VanAanhold Obituary

Barbara L. VanAanhold Essexville, Michigan Barbara Laura VanAanhold, age 89, passed away peacefully Friday morning, August 5, 2022 at Rachel Sovereign Memorial Home. She was born on May 6, 1933 in Bay County. Barbara has been a longtime member of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish and the League of Catholic Women and Men. For many years she worked as a secretary at St. John Elementary School. On June 27, 1953 Barbara was united in marriage to Arthur VanAanhold and he preceded her in death on September 5, 2000. Together they raised their family on the family farm in Essexville. Barbara enjoyed crocheting and sewing, especially making baby bibs, and of course had an experienced green-thumb. An excellent baker, she was known as the family pie maker for all the family events. And she was a true animal lover, something that gave her great comfort over the years. Barbara is survived by her two children, Linda (Stephen) Jaskiewicz of Essexville and Michael (Brenda) VanAanhold of Byron Center; grandchildren, Traci (Chris) Crawford of Bay City, Scott (Krystle) Jaskiewicz of Bay City, Sarah (Patrick) Sundt of Hamilton and Tabitha (Marvin) Zurita of Holland; great grandchildren, Avery and Colton Crawford, Gavyn Jaskiewicz, James Sundt, and Gio, Xavier and Mable Zurita; and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was also preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Sophia Klann. The family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to the staff at Rachel Sovereign for the wonderful care and companionship they gave to Barbara. The Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish with Fr. Dale Orlik presiding and Dcn. Timothy Hartwig concelebrating. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Patrick Mausoleum. Visitation will be at Trahan Funeral Chapel on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Due to the current health concerns, it is requested that masks are used at the funeral chapel and the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, Salvation Army, Humane Society of Bay County or Rachel Sovereign Memorial Home.
