Antonio C. Saraiva

NEW BEDFORD-Antonio C. Saraiva, 91, of New Bedford died Friday, August 5, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Maria Da Conçeição (Cabral) Saraiva with whom he shared 63 years of marriage and son of the late Isidoro Da Costa Saraiva and Maria D. Carmo (Raposo) Saraiva. Born in São Pedro, Nordeste, São Miguel, Açores, he immigrated to New Bedford in 1972. Mr. Saraiva was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where he was an Irmandade. He was employed as a floor man at Columbia Electronics until his retirement and was a farmer while residing in São Miguel. Mr. Saraiva possessed a strong work ethic and was always busy whether it was tending his grape vine, doing yard work and even stocking shelves for local stores. His family includes his wife, Maria Da Conceicão (Cabral) Saraiva of New Bedford; 4 Sons, Jose Saraiva and his wife Grace, Frank Saraiva, Ildeberto Saraiva and his wife Rosa and Daniel Saraiva and his wife Maria, all of New Bedford; 2 Daughters: Fatima Freitas and her husband Joe and Florentina "Tina" Camacho and her husband Scott, all of New Bedford; 2 Sisters: Maria José Brandao of Canada and Maria Laudelina Saraiva of São Paulo, Brazil; Grandchildren, Michael Saraiva, Justin Saraiva, Brittany Camacho, Kaitlin Saraiva, Tiffany Saraiva and Courtney Saraiva; a great-grandchild, Kooper Andrade and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Carlos Saraiva, his 2 grandsons, Andrew J. Saraiva and Dylan A. Camacho, 2 brothers and 1 sister. His Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation in the funeral home prior to the Mass from 9:00-10:30 A.M. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to AUBERTINE-LOPES FUNERAL HOME, 129 Allen St., New Bedford.
